Sunglasses will help protect your eyes, not only from the sun, but also from the reflection of the sun off the salt. Salt Flats vets wear silly looking hats with huge floppy brims that shade their shoulders, chest, back, and upper arms in addition to covering their heads. If you wear shorts with loose legs, you stand a realistic chance of sunburn on parts of your body where it can be extremely uncomfortable, not to mention embarrassing. Put sunscreen on parts of your body you may not generally protect, like under your chin, under your nose, and even the bottoms of your ears. The tricky part is the salt reflects the sun.
